Internationally renowned concert pianist Barry Douglas and a team of musicians from the City of Belfast School of Music begin the search for eight young musical novices. The challenge for the children? To learn an orchestral instrument well enough to play in an orchestral concert at Belfast City Hall in just eight months.

Dozens of young hopefuls are put through their paces in a series of auditions at secondary schools across Belfast, separating the tuneful from the tone deaf until one hundred have been whittled down to eight.
