In this one-hour show, top chef and restaurateur John Torode and food writer and ingredients expert Gregg Wallace are searching for the country's best amateur cook

Firstly six more cooks, picked from thousands of hopeful amateurs, face three high-pressure tests, including the challenges of the professional kitchen in Indian restaurant Zeen, to see who has the passion, the skill and the creativity to make it to the quarter finals.

Then the contestant who makes it through must line up against the exceptional cooks from the first heat, but only the best will reach the semi finals.

They face three tough tests, including designing an exceptional three-course meal that will impress the judges. But before that, they must prove that they have the skill, palate, talent, commitment and the passion to change their lives and pursue a foodie future.

The pressure is on, because only the best will get through to the semi-finals and one step closer to becoming MasterChef...
