There's a new mountain in California - the peak used to be called Negrohead mountain but it's been renamed in honour of a black pioneer who settled in the area in the 19th century. Ryan Ballard is the great great grandson and tells Rhod the story.
An Animal Abuse Registry is being proposed in California. It would be the first law of its kind in the US and would basically name and shame offenders by listing them on a website, along with their home addresses and places of employment. Dean Florez the state senate majority leader tells Rhod about the plans.
