Day 3: Part 2: Figure Skating, Luge, Moguls
Hazel Irvine hosts coverage from Vancouver, with pairs' figure skating, men's moguls, men's luge and women's speed skating all on the day's agenda.
Hazel Irvine hosts coverage from Vancouver.
The Pacific Coliseum in Vancouver is the setting for one of the most popular of the Winter Olympic sports, figure skating, which begins with the pairs free programme. Shen Xue and Zhao Hongbo were decisive winners in the Grand Prix final at the end of last year - can the Chinese pair upgrade their Olympic bronze of four years ago to gold? Commentators: Sue Barker and Robin Cousins.
The men's moguls final could see Vancouver-born Dale Begg-Smith defend his Olympic title. Begg-Smith competed for Canada as a junior, but was representing his adopted country of Australia when he won gold in Turin four years ago. The fact that he skied on today's venue, Cypress Mountain, as a boy should count in his favour. Commentator: Ed Leigh.
The men's luge event concludes as Italian Armin Zoeggeler aims to emulate the achievement of German Georg Hackl, who in 2002 became the first Olympic athlete in any sport to earn a medal in the same individual event five times in a row. Commentators: Paul Dickenson and Colin Bryce.
The women's 3,000m speed skating final could see the first of two gold medals for Martina Sablikova of the Czech Republic. The 22-year-old is favourite in this event and the 5,000m. Don't rule out the hugely successful veteran Anni Friesinger though - the 33-year-old plans to retire after these Games and is looking to add to the four Olympic medals already in her collection. Commentators: Hugh Porter and Wilf O'Reilly.
