Plus, more than 250,000 civil servants begin a two-day strike in a dispute over redundancy pay. The Public and Commercial Services Union expects long queues at airports and disruption to courts, job centres and tax offices. There's growing unease in the public sector over cuts, and the day's papers make uneasy reading for a lot of public sector workers.
Both the CBI and the IOD say the future of the economy is in jeopardy unless public spending cuts begining within months, and they're calling for immediate cuts and caution against what they call 'damaging' tax rises. The PCSU's Nick McCarthy and the former Employment Minister Tony McNulty join the programme.
