The Glasgow giants host the Tannadice club for a lunchtime match with a place in the semi-finals at stake.
Rangers reached the last eight at the expense of St Mirren thanks to a late Kris Boyd goal in a replay at Ibrox, while United saw off St Johnstone in Perth. Managed by Peter Houston since the departure of Craig Levein to take the the Scotland job, the Tayside club will be hoping to improve after two league meetings with Rangers already this season - a 3-0 defeat in Dundee and a 7-1 thrashing at Ibrox. They are now pushing hard for third place in the league and have high hopes of causing a Cup upset.
A domestic treble is still very much on the cards for Walter Smith's Rangers side as they appear in the League Cup Final next weekend and look to retain the SPL title.
