Mary Ann Kennedy presents a Culture Zone exploring Africa's influence on music and art. Amongst the wonderful archive programmes is an edition of the popular series Songlines which looks at the story behind the South African National Anthem Nkosi Sikelel' iAfrika, Scottish author Alexander McCall Smith recalls his life in Botswana and the inspiration behind the First Ladies Detective Agency, we discover how some of Scotland's greatest poets first met on the battlefields of North Africa during the second world war and we hear from some of Africa's greatest musicians including Seckou Keita and Ladysmith Black Mambazo.
