The government is considering sending Royal Navy ships to rescue Brits stranded because of the volcanic ash cloud - airlines meanwhile are concerned that the restrictions on flying are too severe. The ban on flights in UK air space has been extended to at least 0100 on Tuesday
Liverpool have lost their top striker for the season. Fernando Torres has had knee surgery - and he is now a doubt for Spain's world cup squad.
