Nigel Ogden presents a programme of popular organ recordings with some entertaining pieces from the organ world.

The first of tonight’s listener’s requests takes us to the purpose built concert hall attached to a garage near Ashbourne to hear a Compton much enlarged from it’s days at the Regal in Derby. Another takes up back to the sounds of Alexander Palace in the 1930’s to hear probably our most eminent organist George Thalben-Ball and we hear exactly why Ernest Broadbent was asked to fill the large shoes of Reginald Dixon when he retired from Blackpool’s famous Tower Ballroom in 1970
