European ministers agree on a €500bn fund, a hung parliament has led to UK market and currency volatility, post election analysis with a high profile private equity investor.
The IMF will also contribute after Greek economic worries spread to Spain and Portugal last week. We speak to Pedro Schwartz, economics professor at San Pablo University in Madrid, George Buckley, UK Chief Economist at Deutsche Bank and Chris Redfern, Foreign Currency dealer at Money Corp.
It was a bad week for the markets as the FTSE fell significantly due to uncertainty over the next government, and in Wall Street the Dow Jones made big losses too. On the currency markets, the pound fell away against the euro. We speak to Richard Lambert, director general of the CBI, as well as George Buckley and Chris Redfern.
The European parliament are to vote on new rules to regulate hedge funds and private equity groups. Caps on pay, extensive disclosure about investments, and limits on how much cash can be withdrawn from companies are to be discussed. We ask Jon Moulton, one of the most famous names from the private equity world and chairman of the investment firm Better Capital why many in the alternative investment industry are concerned.
