The first results for Northern Ireland come in just after midnight with Peter Robinson, leader of the DUP, defeated by Naomi Long of the Alliance Party in Belfast East, the first major scalp of the contest. Followed by Sinn Fein taking Tyrone West and Belfast West, the DUP being successfully returned for North Antrim, Upper Bann, East Antrim and Lagan Valley and the SDLP winning Belfast South.
