Victorian murder mystery set in London in 1860. After her travels in France, Eliza Martins arrives in London and is soon feted as a literary sensation when her novel, The Passion of Therese Bontine, becomes a best-seller. She meets a leading backbench MP, Sir John Garett Stewart, who declares his admiration both for the novel and its author - but a storm is about to break over both their heads. As the parties at Westminster debate the latest electoral reform bill Eliza and Stewart are guilty of secrets that will lead to blackmail and murder. Omnibus edition.
