Donald Macleod follows Faure's footsteps into the ever-controversial Parisian church of La Madeleine, inspiration for what would become his greatest masterpiece, the Requiem.
Donald Macleod follows the composer's footsteps into the ever-controversial Parisian church of La Madeleine, adopted by Napoleon as tribute to the Revolution, and with architectural qualities halfway between cathedral and grand railway station. Nonetheless the building inspired Faur茅 to create his greatest masterpiece, his Requiem, written for the funeral of a Parisian architect.
