At 1, Would you donate to a religious charity with beliefs different from your own?
International charities like the Red Cross, Oxfam and Christian Aid were quick to launch their appeals, as were more locally based and smaller charities within mosques. There's also news today that Sikhs living in remote regions of Peshawar are requesting the help of British Sikhs to donate as much as they can.
But do you think twice before donating to religious charities? Maybe you think part of their message is to spread the word of God and you agree this is right? On the other hand you think it's wrong to give money to a charity whose religious beliefs are different from yours - if you're Hindu, would you donate to Christian Aid or Islamic Relief? Do you feel religious charities have political agendas, even though many deny this?
After 2, we'll be speaking to the cast of The House of Bilquis Bibi, a play that highlights the religious conformity, repressed sexuality and control in rural but modern-day Pakistan.

A recent newspaper investigation found that some high street chains have been involved in sweatshop scandals. Workers are reportedly receiving twenty five pence an hour for a sixteen hour slog. Do you care that an eight year old in Bangladesh may have stiched your shoes?
Would you pay more for ethically produced clothes? Or are you not bothered about the people who make your clothes as long as they are cheap?
