Finnish Radio Symphony Orchestra - Monday
A showcase for the recent work of the Finnish Radio Symphony Orchestra, including familiar scores by Berlioz, Mozart and Brahms as well as rarities from the orchestra's homeland.
The Finnish Radio Symphony Orchestra is one of its country's leading ensembles and under current Chief Conductor Sakari Oramo (familiar to audiences in Birmingham for his years with the CBSO) it continues to programme a mixture of the great classics, new music and rarely-heard Finnish scores. Today's programme. presented by Katie Derham, begins our week of Finnish music making with something from each of those strands - and a little 18th-century French Divertissement along the way.
