Brazil election count underway, welfare's the hot topic at the Conservative conference, the terror threat in Europe, and coverage of Rebecca Adlington's Commonwealth swim in Delhi.

Dotun Adebayo takes you through the night.

Welfare reform is the big topic at the Conservative party conference, with a speech from the Chancellor George Osborne expected later in the day. Our political correspondent in Birmingham Ian Watson looks ahead.

The Foreign Office has warned that there is a "high threat" of a terrorist attack in countries in Europe including France and Germany. Paul Kane, a Marine veteran of Iraq, as well as a former Fellow of the International Security Program at Harvard's Kennedy School, tells us whether he thinks the warnings will spread alarm.

The votes are in at the Brazil elections - but has Dilma Rousseff done enough to become the country's first female president? The 大象传媒's Paulo Cabral keeps us updated with the counts as they come in.

Plus the Commonwealth Games are well and truly underway, and eight gold medals are up for grabs on day one. We have commentary in the final hour, as England's double Olympic swimming champion Rebecca Adlington begins her bid for four golds, by competing in the women's 200 metre freestyle. Commentary comes from Bob Ballard and Karen Pickering.
