Ride formed in the late 1980s in Oxford. They refused to release conventional singles, preferring instead four-track EPs such as "Ride", "Play" and "Fall", all of which came oput in 1990. Their debut album "Nowhere", also released in 1990, not only proved to be a best seller but also won the band the "Best Album" award in the 1990 Melody Maker readers poll.
