The Radio 3's New Generation Artists scheme, now entering its twelfth year, showcases some of the brightest talents in the world of classical music. A new intake was recently welcomed on to the scheme, and tonight's programme of specially recorded performances gives a chance to hear one of them, German cellist Nicolas Altstaedt, alongside one of the existing ensembles, the ATOS Piano Trio, also from Germany.

There will be further chances to hear the current crop of New Generation Artists in eight programmes over the Christmas period
