PSM 1 and 2 - Brandenburg Concertos

John Shea presents the launch of Bach day at the Proms, with the English Baroque Soloists under John Eliot Gardiner in a performance of all six of Bach's Brandenburg Concertos.

From 大象传媒 Proms 2010

Presented by John Shea

Another chance to hear the launch of Proms Bach Day at the Cadogan Hall, London, with the complete Brandenburg Concertos in two concerts given by the English Baroque Soloists and conductor John Eliot Gardiner. Written for the small orchestra of fine musicians at the court of Anhalt-C枚then, where Bach was Kapellmeister for six years from 1717, each concerto uses a different line-up of musicians. "No other set of concertos" maintains Gardiner, "can compare with Bach's for diversity of instrument make-up, for the prominence and variety of wind instruments, or for the myriad textural contrasts this allows."
