With Hogmanay in the air, Nigel Ogden features recordings of organs in various Scottish venues.

The programme first visits the McEwan Hall of Edinburgh University to hear the original 1897 instrument built by Robert Hope-Jones. He was a British organ builder and entrepreneur from the Wirral who went over to America in the early part of the 20th century and teamed up with Rudolph Wurlitzer to develop the theatre organ as we know it, which became so popular in various countries around the world.

We travel to Dundee where Gordon Stewart plays the organ in the Caird Hall and we hear Frank Olsen playing his own Trippin' Through the Rye on a very rare recording on the Hilsdon organ in the Picture House Dundee.
