At 1, Is it wrong to give money to beggars?

A major homeless charity says beggars shouldn't be given cash because they will spend it on drugs. So if you you've been generous and given a homeless person a couple of quid recently...have you wondered where that cash is really going? And are you fuelling a persons drug habit if you give them money?
