Plans for a new minimum price for beer, wine and spirits in England and Wales will be revealed later. In November, the Scottish Parliament rejected a similar plan.
5 live listener 'Alice' tells us that she blames cheap alcohol for ruining her life and making her homeless. But is she right? Won't the introduction of a minimum price punish sensible drinkers?
Dr Sean Gabb from the Libertarian Alliance describes the government's plans as "fascist" and predicts that the new minimum price will "hit the poor".
'John' from London, who's an alcoholic, says putting the price up won't reduce his drinking. But broadcaster Quentin Wilson says the change might help reduce binge drinkers.
