Aamir Khan: Gujarat earthquake 10th anniversary special
Ten years on from the Gujarat earthquake, Bollywood star Aamir Khan, who had been filming the Oscar-nominated Lagaan, describes his emotions as he returned during the aftermath.
On 26 January 2001, an earthquake registering 7.9 on the Richter scale shook the Indian subcontinent. Its epicentre was located in the western Indian state of Gujarat.
More than 20,000 people died and around 400,000 homes were destroyed.
Bollywood actor Aamir Khan had been filming the Oscar nominated movie Lagaan, which was set in the region, and he describes his experience when he returned to Gujarat in the aftermath of the quake.
Speaking exclusively to the Gagan Grewal Show on the 10th anniversary of the earthquake, Aamir Khan recalls the emotions he felt when he heard about the tragedy.
He speaks to Gagan about why he wanted to personally help the people of Bhuj.
