Sympathy for the teacher who sprayed kids who smelt of curry with air freshener? Plus Aqib Khan, Sajid in West Is West, and cricket photographer Emma Levine speak to Nihal.
At1, Do you have any sympathy for the teacher who sprayed kids who smelt of curry with air freshener?
Fifty year old Elizabeth Davies is a nursery school teacher with 21 years experience but she will probably never work again after being banned from the classroom for spraying Asian kids with air freshener because they "smelt of curry".
Mrs Davies worked in a school in Swansea where almost half the children were Bangladeshi. While you can see why they sacked her, do you understand where she was coming from? Do you ever get distressed by people who smell strongly of what they've eaten? Do you complain or just tolerate it? Do you blame the teacher for acting if there's a smell of curry? What should should she have done? Should the teacher have spoke to the parents? Is there anything she can do?
After 2, We'll be speaking to Aqib Khan, a young actor who plays Sajid in West is West, the big sequel to "East is East", and later in the show we'll also be talking a woman who's spent years of taking photos of cricket and cricketers in South Asia.
