Episode 1

Episode 1 of 7

Ricky Ross speaks to Graeme Obree about the major crossroads in his life, reflecting back on how he used cycling to hide the pain of bullying, depression and repressed sexuality.

Ricky hears from people who have faced a massive turning point in their lives. With the knowledge and experience they've acquired along the way, Ricky finds out how they reflect back on those difficult times and what words of wisdom they wish they could give their younger selves.

This week the Flying Scotsman,Graeme Obree, opens up to Ricky about coming to terms with being gay. An obsession with cycling meant he could close down emotionally and not deal with the pains of childhood bullying, denying his sexuality and being bi-polar. When his cycling career came to an end, Graeme went into meltdown, attempting suicide, and this was the beginning of a long recovery process and facing up to his inner demons.
