Up All Night hears about the 大象传媒 team arrested and beaten up by Colonel Gaddafi's forces in Libya. And we discuss the decision by the State of Illinois to abolish the death penalty.

Colonel Gaddafi's security forces have detained and beaten up a 大象传媒 news team who were trying to reach the western city of Zawiya. They've since been released - our Middle East editor Jeremy Bowen gives us the latest.

Plus Up All Night discusses the decision by the State of Illinois to abolish the death penalty. We ask if it's part of a wider trend in the USA.

We speak to our correspondent in Australia who tells us about the gangland granny, Judy Moran. She's been found guilty of the murder of her brother in law.

And in the third hour Dr Karl talks all things science - he explains to us why biscuits go soft if they're left out but cakes go hard. And would a radio telescope on the other side of the universe see Earth still populated by dinosaurs as the image has taken so long to get there?
