Barbara Windsor Joined Us for Breakfast!
EastEnders star and Carry On legend Barbara Windsor MBE popped in for a coffee and a catch-up with Chris, to tell us about being a 'street party ambassador'.
Whether you know her best as Peggy Mitchell out of EastEnders or from her many roles in the legendary Carry On films, BARBARA WINDSOR is one of this country's most loved actresses, and on Friday she came to the studio with Chris for breakfast!
Now with an MBE to her name, Barbara began acting at just 13 years of age, and what followed was a glittering career of stage, film and TV performances. Windsor came to real prominence with her portrayals of a 'good time girl' in no fewer than nine Carry On films, and we all remember her most famous outdoor aerobic scene...!
After just four years in her new role at Albert Square as Peggy Mitchell, Barbara picked up the award for Best Actress at the British Soap Awards, and later a Lifetime Achievement award, and that was just the beginning of what was to become a jam-packed trophy cabinet.
Now, leaving the Queen Victoria pub behind with her last EastEnders appearance in September 2010, Barbara gets to spend a bit more time with husband Scott Mitchell, and enjoys the honour of Freedom of the City of London.
Which means she was able to zip through rush-hour traffic without a problem when we got her croissants on the table!
