Celtic v Rangers
Co-operative Insurance Cup Final
The first major cup final of the season sees Neil Lennon's Celtic take on Walter Smith's Rangers. It's a fascinating battle of youth versus experience as the 39 year old Celtic boss locks horns with the veteran Rangers manager who, at 63, is one of the game's elder statesmen.
It's sure to be an emotion-filled occasion for Walter Smith who is in his last season with the Ibrox club and is it's most successful manager since the Bill Struth era. The Ibrox club have an illustrious League Cup history having won the trophy a record twenty six times - Smith leading his teams to nine of those over two spells at the helm.as Rangers manager. Current Assistant Manager
Ally McCoist will take over the reins next season. Meanwhile, Neil Lennon will be hoping this is his first trophy win as Celtic manager. He has been in charge for almost a year, having taken over as caretaker boss from Tony Mowbray in March 2010. Celtic won all their remaining league games after he took over but lost out on the title to Rangers and were beaten by Ross County in the Scottish Cup semi-final. Lennon was appointed on a full-time basis last summer and, despite an early European exit, the former Celtic midfielder has assembled an impressive squad which has produced some impressive form recently.
In their five meetings in all competitions already this season, Celtic have the upper hand. They have two SPL wins to Rangers' one and were also the victors in a controversial Scottish Cup replay.
