The owner of the News of the World has admitted that phone hacking was rife at the Sunday paper. We're joined by Steve Hewlett, the presenter of The Media Show on 大象传媒 Radio 4 and a visiting Professor of Journalism and Broadcast policy at the University of Salford.

More than a hundred bodies have been found in Ivory Coast as violence continues in the country. In the first hour we get the latest from Rupert Colville, spokesman for the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights.

A deal has been reached to avert a government shutdown in America. Craig Gordon, Washington Editor for Politico.com tells us all about it in the final hour.
