Within this part of the show Sir Terry showcases great musical performance, song-writing and artistic talent. He also chats with some of the biggest names from the worlds of music, theatre, film and TV.

This week Sir Terry chats to Lulu and his performance guest is rising star Asa.

Scottish-born Lulu is a household name, with an entertainment career spanning 50 years. At the age of 12 Lulu already had a manager and sang in her first band. Her famous single ‘Shout’ was released in 1964, when Lulu was just 15, and reached No. 7 in the UK charts. What followed was a musical career of more than 40 years and more than 20 albums. She also represented the UK in the Eurovision Song Contest in 1969 with the song ‘Boom Bang-A-Bang’, which won - although it tied with three other winners. Lulu’s occasional film career includes a role in 1967 film To Sir, With Love with Sidney Poitier. Lulu was awarded an OBE in 2000, and in February this year took part in Let’s Dance For Comic Relief.

Starting to sing at a young age, Nigerian-French singer-songwriter Asa was inspired by a wide range of musical genres and artist including Ebenezer Obey, Fela Kuti, Marvin Gaye, Bob Marley and Sunny Ade. While studying in Paris that she formed her musical style, fusing pop, R&B, world, funk, soul and reggae, and she sings in both English and Yoruba. Asa released her second album Beautiful Imperfection in 2010 and kicked off an international tour in 2011. She performs Be My Man and a cover of Crazy by Gnarls Barkley.
