The number of people who went shopping was up 16% on last year. We speak to Diane Wehrle, research director at Springboard Research, the company who measure footfall in shopping centres around the country.

A 大象传媒 survey of a group of economists shows that two-thirds think interest rates won't rise until August at the earliest. The Bank of England base rate has been held at 0.5% since March 2009, a total of 25 consecutive months. We are joined by George Buckley, chief UK economist at Deutsche Bank who is one of the 22 economists surveyed.
