Episode 7
High street store buyers ask members of the public to provide them with the next bestselling products. In the last episode, we find out what has happened to the retail rookies.
Retailers are always on the lookout for the next big thing and in this series the buying teams of three high street giants are prepared to take an enormous gamble by asking members of the public to supply them with the next bestselling product. This is a chance of a lifetime for unknown designers and producers to pitch directly to the retail industry's power-brokers and have the opportunity to get their product stocked in prestigious shops. Over six months, retail entrepreneur Theo Paphitis will be following both buyers and suppliers as they experience the highs and guaranteed lows of bringing a product to market, from initial pitch to shop shelf. Whilst many won't make the grade, for a lucky few it will be a life-changing experience.
In the final episode of the series, its time to find out what has happened to our retail rookies - who has hit the shelves and made it to the big time and who has gone back to the drawing board? The action hasn't finished either as our remaining suppliers still have points to prove and deadlines to hit. Some dreams will go up in flames and others will fail to light up - quite literally.
Catherine Gray edges closer to commercial success but continues to give buyer Ros Nelson and creative director Theo Williams a run for their money right up to the last minute. Meanwhile, Laura Wellington's light adds some brightness to proceedings.Louise Day's new baby sling design faces its toughest challenge yet - the scrutiny of product safety tester Stuart Walker and his laboratory of technology, while the sweet smell of success is in the air for some male deodorant wipes. Professor Weston's scarves create a splash in the scarf room, though it's a very different story for Stephen and Robin's light, as crisis looms large.
