With Rhod Sharp. Former joint chief of staff General Richard Myers talks to Rhod about troop withdrawals from Afghanistan. And Dr Karl answers your science questions.
Rhod Sharp with news and current affairs from around the world, plus the super-intelligent Dr Karl is back to answer more of your increasingly difficult science questions.
General Richard Myers, former chairman of the joint chiefs of staff between 2001 and 2005, the highest ranking officer in the United States military, gives his thoughts on the announcement by President Obama that troops will start to pull out of Afghanistan.
We also hear the thoughts of former US special envoy to Afghanistan James Dobbins, and Afghan foreign ministry spokesman Janna Mosaza.
Also on the programme, a 1935 Pablo Picasso painting depicting his lover Marie-Therese Walter has fetched an eye-watering 拢13.5 million at auction at Christies in London. An anonymous American donor gave the painting to the University of Sydney on the condition that proceeds from the sale go towards funding scientific research. After several interested parties took part in fierce bidding, it's thought the painting was bought by a British buyer. Andrew Potter from Sydney University tells us more.
