Ian Lavender travels to Grasmere in Cumbria to learn more about some of the wartime paintings found tucked away in churches and tiny galleries across the Lake District.

Ian Lavender starts his journey with Dad's Army fan and friend Jon Culshaw at the Imperial War Museum in London and travels to Grasmere in Cumbria to discover more about some of the wartime paintings found tucked away in churches and tiny galleries across this beautiful area of the Lake District. Ian will meet some of the people featured in the paintings, as well as local artists and curators to discover more about the local Home Guard and finds out why so many artists were in Cumbria during the Second World War.
