Tamikrest in Session

Featuring a live session from Tamikrest, a Tuareg musical collective who mix traditional African music with Western pop and rock influences. They discuss their album, Toumastin.

Tamikrest are from Kidal, a remote desert town in the northwest of the Sahara, some 2,000 kilometres north of the capital of Mali - Bamako. The band members are all Tuaregs, a group of people that is spread all over North and some of West Africa.

Like their older colleagues Tinariwen, Tamikrest have used music to bring peace to their home. They are in session and talk to Bob about their second album 'Toumastin' after 1am.
