Once in a while a Bollywood Film comes out that could be a game changer. Imran Khan's Delhi Belly could be such a film.
Released at the weekend, its mix of sex, violence and dirty humour. It's mainly in English and completely rejects the traditional template for successful Indian films. Its been hugely successful, thrashing the new Amitabh Bachchan film at the box office which was released on the same day, and even breaking into the top ten for all films last week in the UK.
So is this the end of an era? Is the days of dancing around trees and cheesy dance numbers over? Are you ready for a more gritty, reality based approach to Bollywood? Or do you want the old values back?
Is the British Bollywood audience more traditional than the Indian audience? Do we want a romanticised view of Indian life that doesn't exist?
