John Inverdale presents live coverage as Birmingham's Alexander Stadium plays host to its first British Grand Prix, following a switch from its traditional home of Gateshead. The north-east venue provided some memorable highlights throughout the years, including Asafa Powell's 100m world record-equalling run of 9.77 seconds in 2006; now it's the turn of England's second city to create its own history for the event in 2011.
This season's meeting is the ninth stop of the Diamond League tour, with athletes from both the USA and Jamaica particularly keen to feel at home. Both countries will be using Birmingham as their pre-Olympic holding camp ahead of the London 2012 Olympic Games next year.
