Litir 628: Taigh nam Bodach - P脿irt 3
Bha mi ag innse dhuibh mu Thaigh nam Bodach, no Taigh na Cailliche, faisg air Loch L矛omhann. Bithear a鈥 cur nan clachan a-mach 脿s an 鈥榯aigh鈥 a h-uile Bealltainn agus gan toirt a-steach a-rithist airson a鈥 gheamhraidh air an latha ro Oidhche Shamhna. Tha cuid dhen bheachd gur e a th鈥 ann cleachdadh p脿ganach a tha cho sean ri gin ann am Breatainn.
听听听听听听听听听听听 鈥橲 iad na daoine a bha a鈥 fuireach ann an ceann shuas a鈥 ghlinne a ch霉m an cleachdadh be貌 fad nan linntean. Ach thogadh d脿m an sin an d猫idh an D脿rna Cogaidh agus rinneadh loch m貌r ann. Bha na daoine air am fuadachadh. Cha robh duine ann tuilleadh a bheireadh s霉il air Taigh nam Bodach ach an c矛obair a bha ri obair chaorach. Gu fortanach, bha 霉idh aig a鈥 ch矛obair, Bob Bissett, anns a鈥 ghnothach, agus ch霉m e an cleachdadh a dol. 鈥橲 e a thug fiosrachadh don e貌laiche, Anna Ros, mu dheidhinn.
听听听听听听听听听听听 Nuair a chaochail Bob Bissett, bha an t-eagal ann gum faigheadh an cleachdadh fh猫in b脿s. Ach lean an ath ch矛obair le bhith a鈥 cur nan clachan a-mach 鈥檚 a-steach gach bliadhna. Agus tha daoine a tha an s脿s ann an comainn eachdraidh sh矛os anns na glinn air an gnothach a chumail a dol.
听听听听听听听听听听听 Chan eil e soilleir, ge-t脿, d猫 thachras san 霉ine romhainn. Tha plana ann airson sgeama dealain-uisge gu h-脿rd sa ghleann a n矛 cron air an 脿ite. Tha Taigh nam Bodach air a bhith ann an 脿ite s脿mhach, s矛theil, iomallach fad nan linntean. 鈥橲 d貌cha nach lean an t-s脿mhchair. Bhite a鈥 creidsinn san t-seann aimsir, 鈥檚 d貌cha, nach biodh a鈥 Chailleach 鈥檚 am Bodach ro thoilichte mun t-suidheachadh 霉r, agus gum biodh na daoine fh猫in ann an cunnart air s脿illibh sin. Agus tha cuid anns an sg矛re an-diugh dhen bheachd gum bu ch貌ir don 脿ite a bhith air a chl脿radh mar 鈥榣脿rach naomh鈥 a bhiodh air a d矛on bho leasachadh neo-iomchaidh. Ach, thuige seo, cha chreid mi gu bheil reachdas againn a bhios a鈥 d矛on 脿iteachan a bha, no a tha, naomh.
听听听听听听听听听听听 Mus fh脿g mi gnothaichean os-n脿darrach ann an Gleann L矛omhann, bu mhath leam rudeigin a r脿dh mu 霉谤耻颈蝉驳ean oir thathar ag r脿dh gu bheil fear a鈥 fuireach anns a鈥 ghleann. 鈥橲 e 霉谤耻颈蝉驳 creutair os-n脿darrach a bha a鈥 fuireach ann an, no faisg air, uisge, gu h-脿raidh aibhnichean. Tha an sgr矛obhaiche Seton Gordon anns an leabhar aige Highways and Byways in the Central Highlands ag innse dhuinn mu chlach ann an ceann shuas Ghleann L矛omhann. Tha lorg-coise anns a鈥 chloich agus canaidh daoine Caslorg Pheallaidh ris, the footprint of Peallaidh.
听听听听听听听听听听听 Tha Gordon ag innse dhuinn gur e Peallaidh r矛gh nan 霉谤耻颈蝉驳ean. Tha baile Obar Pheallaidh ga ainmeachadh air a shon. Tha an t-ainm Peallaidh a鈥 tighinn bhon facal peall 鈥 bian molach. Bhathar ag r脿dh gun robh Peallaidh a鈥 fuireach ann an Uisge L矛omhann agus gun robh e na bu luaithe na bradan air sn脿mh. Bha an dachaigh aige ann am Bun Eas no Falls of Moness faisg air Obar Pheallaidh. Bha 霉谤耻颈蝉驳ean pailt ann an Alba agus bha Gleann L矛omhann am measg nan 脿iteachan a bu phailte san robh iad. Tha tr矛 霉谤耻颈蝉驳ean deug air an ainmeachadh ann an seann rann G脿idhlig bhon sg矛re. Innsidh mi an rann dhuibh anns an ath Litir.

Puing-ch脿nain na Litreach
cha chreid mi gu bheil reachdas againn: I don鈥檛 think we have legislation. This phraseology is common in conversation. Cha chreid mi gu bheil might be replaced by chan eil mi a鈥 creidsinn gu bheil but the former is snappier, more direct and more common in general usage. Cha chreid mi gu bheil e aig baile an-dr脿sta 鈥 I don鈥檛 think he鈥檚 at home just now. Note also the double negative which gives an affirmative eg cha chreid mi nach eil e aig baile an-dr脿sta 鈥 I think he is at home just now. A bheil e a-staigh? (is he in?) might be answered with cha chreid mi nach eil (meaning 鈥業 think so鈥).
