President Barack Obama and congressional leaders announced an historic agreement last night on emergency legislation, to avert the nation's first-ever financial default. The dramatic resolution lifted a cloud that had threatened the still-fragile economic recovery and had rattled global markets. We speak to Jim Sarni, Managing Principal of US firm Payden & Rygel. The Confederation of British Industry - the CBI - has downgraded its economic growth forecast for the year from 1.7% to 1.3%. We find out why from Ian McCafferty, the CBI's Chief Economic Advisor. Today we hear the latest interim results of HSBC, with thousands of job cuts worldwide being expected. We are joined by Mike Trippitt, Banking Analyst at Oriel Securities.
