Tim Samuels reveals the inspiring, uneasy and unexpected story of poetry and PTSD - a creative approach to healing the mental scars of war veterans who have fought for Britain. Tim meets a group of former servicemen - who have served from the Falklands to more recent missions in Belfast and Bosnia - whose daily lives are still heavily affected by these past conflicts. Alongside the more traditional psychiatric treatments, the men are also trying out a more creative-based approach by using poetry as a means to express and heal their trauma. The results are amazingly evocative - capturing the visceral rawness of conflict and the ongoing human consequences.
