GCSE results
Are Asian families too competitve about their kids' exam results? Plus it's the weekly news quiz, Guess the Story.
Are Asian families too competitive about their kids exams results?
It's GCSE results day today. Fifteen and sixteen year olds across the country are either celebrating or commiserating with each other after opening their envelopes. Probably even more excited about the results are the parents, aunties and uncles waiting to call up and find out what the candidates got. They might pretend they are happy for any success, but are they really trying to find out whether your Sachin did better than their Suneil?
Is that a fair picture? Do you think the whole thing about relations calling is over the top or do you believe they call because they care? Does the extra pressure make pupils more successful? Or does the extra pressure cause long term damage? Do GCSE results even matter in the long term?
Later, it's this weeks news quiz Guess The Story.
