Despite Whitney's protests, Fat Boy calls on Ryan to help them deal with Rob, with horrifying consequences for all concerned. Dot finally learns the truth about Rose's family.

Rob attempts to talk Whitney into running away with him. Whitney’s nearly won over when Fatboy walks in. Rob’s aggressive and when he hits Fatboy, Whitney turns on him. Rob leaves, telling her to call him. Fatboy phones Ryan, who comes to Southend. Ryan texts Rob from Whitney’s phone, then sets off to find him. Realising what Ryan’s done, Whitney’s distraught – Rob will kill him. At the pier, Ryan chats to Rob, but when Rob phones Whitney her mobile rings in Ryan’s pocket. The men start fighting. Whitney and Fatboy rush to the pier. Ryan charges at Rob, the men tumble off the side of the pier and into the sea below as Whitney looks on, shocked.

Dot tells Rose she might not have long to live. She accompanies Rose to her next ‘job’, gambling on the slot machines. Dot and Rose discuss the past and Dot admits she’s lost her friends and Jim’s in a home. Rose agrees to have dinner with Dot. At the hotel, they meet Heather and Andrew and Dot’s taken aback to learn that Andrew’s Rose’s son. The four have dinner together. During the meal, Rose continually makes snide comments to Andrew. Eventually, Andrew stands up to her and he and Heather leave.

Heather’s thrilled when Andrew reveals he’s interested in her. But after Shirley plants doubt in her mind, Heather turns down Andrew’s dinner invitation. Later, Heather’s angry when she realises Shirley lied, Andrew really does like her. Shirley drags Heather into the bar and leaves her with Andrew. However, Heather later finishes with Andrew, unimpressed by the way he spoke to his mother at dinner.

When Kim admits she once had unprotected sex with Lewis, the man with HIV, Denise persuades her to get tested. They’re relieved when Kim’s given the all clear.
