EDINBURGH INTERNATIONAL FESTIVAL 2011
The French lyric mezzo-soprano, Sophie Koch has charmed opera audiences across Europe often playing such young and dashing trouser roles as Octavia, Cherubino and Count Orlovsky. In today's recital from the Queen's Hall in Edinburgh, she turns once again to romance with Schumann's song cycle on poems by Eichendorff, a collection of mysterious and romantic night-scenes, some sinister, others elated and elegiac as well as some of Baudelaire's most sensuous poems in settings by Debussy and Duparc.
