Is it wrong to have more than one wife?

Polygamy's the subject of this evening's Asian network documentary. According to the Islamic Sharia Council the practice is on the rise in Britain. It says over the past 15 years, an increasing number of second and third generation British Muslims are taking more than one wife. This practice is illegal in the UK, but people are getting around this by only registering the first marriage and having a religious ceremony for the second marriage.

How do you feel about this? Could you share your husband with another man if your religion permitted it? Can you understand why a men would want to take a second wife? Or even why a wife would allow her husband to do this?

Or do you think that if it's accepted in Islam and all those involved are happy with the set up then we have no right to judge? Is it really anyone's business apart from those involved in the marriage? And if so, shouldn't the law recognise that?
