Shirley’s spooked that the front door’s been open all night and discovers a photograph of a young boy has been taped to the back. Phil maintains it’s nothing to worry about, Shirley asks around the market who the boy is but has no luck. When Alfie’s car won’t start after a service in the Arches, Phil insists Jay drain the petrol tank and discovers a plastic bag containing another photograph of the same boy, now older, and 08/03/94 on the back. Visibly shaken, Phil shows Pat the photograph. Horrified, Pat fetches an old newspaper cutting headlined ‘Car Lot Fire Man Identified’ complete with an identical photograph.
Alfie suggests Tyler help the girls reconcile. Tyler coaxes Poppy to talk to Jodie before she leaves but offends her when he suggests they hook up. The girls are forced to talk when Tyler texts Jodie from Poppy’s mobile. As Jodie packs her cuddly toys - all from Darren - she realises what’s missing. Later, the boys discover both girls packing; Jodie’s going to find Darren and Poppy’s moving back to her mum’s. Anthony’s furious to discover Tyler came on to Poppy. Jodie leaves Walford, determined to find her man.
Afia’s alarmed by Yusef and Zainab’s relationship; according to Islamic law, for Yusef and Zainab to marry would be haram. Yusef apologises to a cowed Zainab for his behaviour the night before, explaining he’s a passionate man and he loves her. Later, Yusef tells Afia he’s spoken with an Imam who’s deemed it permissible for he and Zainab to marry. When Yusef insists Zainab makes him happy, Afia grudgingly gives him her permission.
Jane and Masood try to hide their passion for each other. When Masood tells Jane there’s no one in the B&B, she quickly heads off after him.
