For our last show before Christmas, Russell takes "The Twelve Days Of Christmas" as his theme, selecting an extraordinary assortment of discs to represent the different gifts.
For our last show before Christmas, Russell takes "The Twelve Days Of Christmas" as his theme, selecting an extraordinary assortment of discs to represent the different gifts.
Gene Krupa's Drummer Boy stands for the twelve drummers drumming and The Pied Pipers' My Happiness for eleven pipers piping. London Is The Place For Me, sung by Lord Kitchener (one of many Trinidadian Calypsonian "Lords") stands for the ten lords a-leaping, Peggy Lee's Golden Earrings for five gold rings and so on, with Russell making a convincing, if sometimes far-fetched, case for each choice.
The entertaining selection is concluded with US comic Bob Rivers' Twelve Pains Of Christmas and there's a tiny afterthought from Rosemary Clooney - Don't Wait Until The Night Before Christmas.
