Why scientists think a largely forgotten crop, sainfoin, could be the key to more sustainable meat and milk. And 98 pints of milk - all in a day's work for 'our' dairy cow.
Scientists at the University of Reading are coordinating a 拢3.5 million international project to find more sustainable animal feeds and they think a pink flowering plant, Sainfoin, could be one answer. Ninety eight pints of milk a day - all in a day's work for Bradley Cora 289, the dairy cow we're following through a year of production. And, a turkey farmer takes a break from his frantic work to tell us how he's preparing birds for the shops.
