Members of the Takacs Quartet play music by Schubert. Schubert: Allegro assai (String Quartet No 12 in C minor, D703) (Quartettsatz); String Quartet No 15 in G, D887.

Every Summer the 250-year-old castle of Schwetzingen, just outside the German city of Heidelberg, plays host to a music festival. The stars of today and, hopefully, tomorrow take part - as they have done since the festival began in 1952.
In this recital the members of the multi award-winning Takacs Quartet play Schubert. They begin with the single movement 'quartet-piece' that surely is part of an unfinished or lost larger work. They follow this with Schubert's magnificent final quartet - a piece that manages to be both lyrical and unsettling, intimate and yet on a huge scale. A true masterpiece.

Takacs Quartet.

SCHUBERT: Allegro assai from String Quartet No 12 in C minor D 703 (Quartettsatz).
