A recital given at the 2011 Schwetzingen Festival in Germany by the Heath Quartet. Britten: String Quartet No 1 in D, Op 25. Dvorak: String Quartet No 10 in E flat, Op 51.

The stars of today and, hopefully, tomorrow take part - as they have done since the festival began in 1952. Among such an international line-up it was good to see a young chamber-group from England taking its place.
The Heath Quartet is now approaching its 10th birthday and is making a fine reputation at home and abroad. In this recital they contrast a work by the young Benjamin Britten - written just before he left the United States during the 2nd World War - with music that's full of the folk-rhythms of Dvorak's native Bohemia.
