Johnnie Walker chats to Baron Wolman, a photographer who captured the icons of the late 60s and 70s.
Baron was a photo-journalist living in Haight-Ashbury San Francisco when he accepted a commission from the young Jann Wenner, ambitious editor of a new music paper called Rolling Stone. Wolman was asked to be the staff photographer and he accepted for the small price of his film and developing costs and the rights to his own pictures. He went on to shoot the cr猫me de la cr猫me of the West Coast music scene and music icons from Mick Jagger to The Who, Steve Miller and AC/DC. Baron remembers the stories and some his favourite music from that decade.
Listener Nicholas Whitehead from Cardiff also jumps into the My 70s time machine to share his musical memories from the Bath Festival in 1970 and throughout the decade. And a week after David Bowie's 65th birthday Johnnie's featured album is Low, the first of Bowie's Berlin Trilogy from 1977. There's archive of Bowie talking about the album and Johnnie plays his own favourite tracks from the album.
